SoleFit was born from a deeply personal place—my mother’s experience with diabetic foot complications. Watching her struggle with foot ulcers was painful, but what truly broke my heart was seeing how the traditional methods of measuring her feet for custom shoes made things worse.The process involved taking foot measurements using traditional molding techniques, which required her to bear weight on her ulcerated foot. This not only caused her significant discomfort but also irritated the ulcer further, leaving her frustrated and reluctant to continue. I realized there had to be a better way—something less invasive, more precise, and tailored to the unique needs of diabetics.That’s when the idea for SoleFit’s non-weight-bearing scanning methodology was born.&nbsp; Why Non-Weight-Bearing Scans Matter for Diabetics and Pre-Diabetics Traditional foot-scanning methods often require individuals to stand or put weight on their feet during the process. For diabetics or pre-diabetics, this can cause several problems:Irritation of Existing Ulcers: Bearing weight on a foot with an ulcer can worsen the wound, delay healing, and increase the risk of infection. Inaccurate Measurements: Diabetic feet are prone to swelling and deformities, which can alter under pressure. Weight-bearing scans may not capture the true shape and size of the foot in its natural state. The AWE program directly supports the U.S. National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality, and is being facilitated by the US Consulate General in Hong Kong and Womentors. This program recently concluded with an inspiring grand finale event. At the event, over 20 passionate entrepreneurs pitched their innovative businesses to a panel of expert judges. We are incredibly honoured to share that Solefit Care Limited secured the 1st runner-up position!
